About Medical Assistant School
What Is Medical Assistant School?
An independent guide to medical assisting programs in the United States. It lists 1,340 certificate, diploma, associate degree and non-credit programs at 989 schools in 50 states and territories, each checked on the school's own website in October 2026, so you can compare cost, length, schedule, the externship, accreditation and certification exams in one place.
What Medical Assistant School Covers
Each program listing shows what a future medical assistant weighs: the credential (certificate, diploma or associate degree), whether classes run on campus or hybrid and in the day, evening or on weekends, the length in weeks and the clock hours or credits, the externship, the skills taught alongside core medical assisting such as phlebotomy and EKG, the certification exams the school's page names, and published tuition with its basis and year. Programs on the CAAHEP or ABHES accreditation lists carry an accreditation seal: 339 programs at 309 schools.
Guides explain how to become a medical assistant, how the CMA, RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams compare, how long school takes, what it costs and what the job pays. Four tools match programs to your needs, find your certification route, price a program and check a school's accreditation.
How Every Program Was Checked
The list of schools starts with every institution that reported medical assisting awards (CIP code 51.0801) to the U.S. Department of Education for 2022-23, plus every campus on the CAAHEP and ABHES lists. A program appears only after its current pages were reviewed on the school's own website in October 2026. Accreditation comes only from the CAAHEP and ABHES directories, captured October 12, 2026, never from a school's own claim. The methodology explains each step.
Independence and Advertising
Some pages carry sponsored listings from schools that advertise through our partner, ESYOH. Each is labeled "Ad," sits apart from the research, and never changes which programs appear, their order or what we say about them. The advertising disclosure explains how the site is funded.
Corrections
Schools change their prices, schedules and admission rules. If a listing is out of date, send the page and a link to the school's page through the contact form, and it will be reviewed against the school's own pages.

He isn't a medical assistant or a clinician, so every page is built from primary sources rather than opinion: each school's own program, admissions and tuition pages, the CAAHEP and ABHES directories, the certifying bodies' eligibility pages, federal IPEDS completions for 2022-23 and Bureau of Labor Statistics pay data (OEWS, May 2025), with the source cited on the page.
