Which Tool Should You Start With?
Start with the program matcher to shortlist schools near you, check each one in the accredited program checker, price your finalists in the cost and payoff calculator, and use the certification pathway finder to see which exam your training leads to. All four run on the same 1,340 programs at 989 schools, each checked on the school's own pages in October 2026.
- Medical Assistant Program MatcherDecides which schools to shortlist. Set your ZIP or state, credential, schedule, length, budget, accreditation and skills, and get the verified programs that fit, with the reason each one matched.
- MA Certification Pathway FinderDecides which certification exam you can take. Answer four questions about your training, work and military experience, and see which exams you can sit (CMA, RMA, CCMA or NCMA) under each body's own eligibility routes.
- Medical Assistant School Cost and Payoff CalculatorDecides whether you can pay for it, and how fast it pays back. Price any program from its published cost or rate, subtract grants and aid, see the loan payment, and how long it takes to pay back at the median medical assistant wage.
- Accredited Medical Assistant Program CheckerDecides whether a school's program is accredited. Type a school's name to see whether its medical assisting program is on the CAAHEP or ABHES list, and what that means for the CMA (AAMA) exam.
What the Tools Are Built on
Every program in the tools was read on the school's own pages: credential, format, schedule, length, clock hours or credits, the externship, skills taught, the certification exams named and published tuition. Accreditation comes from the CAAHEP and ABHES lists captured October 12, 2026, which cover 339 programs. Certification routes are quoted from the AAMA, AMT, NHA and NCCT eligibility pages, fetched the same day.
The calculator uses the 2026–27 federal aid figures from studentaid.gov (a Pell Grant of up to $7,395, first-year Direct Loans of up to $5,500 for dependent students and $9,500 for independent students) and BLS pay for medical assistants, a median of $45,690 a year (May 2025).
